Candy Box - It started out as an ASCII art curio that very quickly turned into a phenomenon as more people played and shared the game. We'd keep it running on our browsers while we worked, slept, and ate, accumulating those precious candies to progress further into the world of the mysterious Candy Merchant. We didn't consume the candies. The candies consumed us.
As surprising as the
many surprises contained within the unfolding world of Candy Box was the identity of its creator, the pseudonymous 'aniwey'. An 18 year old university student from Caen, France who created the game as an experimental exercise in between coursework assignments. Back in May, we spoke to aniwey via Skype for a GameCityNights 'From The Desk Of...' interview where he turned out be a super lovely, intelligent, charming young chap with LOTS to say.
After giving us a tantalising look at his progress on the Candy Box sequel we tried to convince aniwey to come to Nottingham for this year's festival. We're VERY excited that he's up for it, is taking a few days off from his studies, and will be releasing Candy Box 2 at GameCity 8!
